ACSL American Computer Science League Newsletter Final June 2010 |
ALL-STAR
CONTEST
The ACSL 2010 All-Star Contest was held at Conrad Weiser
HS on Saturday, May 29, 2010. The host advisor was Arlan Dietrich. a total
of 60 teams from the USA, Canada, Romania, Croatia and Slovenia competed.
ACSL awarded prizes in six divisions.
The logistics of the contest were nothing short of magnificent. From the setup for registration, the use of student guides, the digital slide show, the great lunch menu and the one hour physics show featuring a bed of nails to the overall friendliness of the staff, this was a great event.
ACSL wants to thank all the advisors who chose to spend a long weekend with us rather than doing all the other things available on a Memorial Day weekend. In addition to supervising their students, ACSL puts the advisors to work as proctors and monitors. The advisors do a great job. The contest can't run without their help.
ACSL presented plaques to top scoring students and teams from the geographical divisions from the regular season. In addition ACSL awarded Lexmark 4-in-1 printers to the top 2 scoring teams in each of the 6 divisions. Further, plaques were awarded to each student and team that finished in the top 3 in their division. Computer related books were awarded to 150 students based upon their score on the short answer portion of the test. A total of 37 students got a perfect score on the short answer test.
